Check out Bruford's stuff as well. His book is pretty good, filled with transcriptions of Beelzebub and his Yes stuff.
His stuff is surprsingly tricky. And it's mostly in odd times, which if you're into that thing, separates it from Garibaldi and others.

Garibaldi's book was "Future Sounds" - its great for working on sound quality and a really good groundwork for linear stuff in a groove setting.

Thanks to all who posted info and I'm going to give thanks out now to anyone else who posts in the future.
Bobby Rock's "Metalmorphosis" is a book influenced by Chaffee ideas and contains some interesting and challenging linear (and non-linear or layered) grooves. I love "Rick's Licks - The Video", a good complement for the book. Rick Gratton is a funny guy and plays some nice solos. The books with Weckl transcriptions ("Video Transcription Series) also are a very good source for linear ideas. Of course, you should check out recordings with the masters of linear drumming: Steve Gadd (Chick Corea's Mad Hatter and Leprechaun, etc.), Vinnie Colaiuta and Dave Weckl.
